The Brief
Our Approach
Having already worked on the renovation of the adjacent Stubbin Farm, farmhouse and barn conversion, the client approached us to provide design and planning services for the conversion of a small remaining outbuilding into a holiday let.
As part of the brief the client was keen to provide accessible accommodation for all guests, including wheelchair users, retain the character of the existing structure utilising openings and create a building which was in-keeping with the surrounding site and area.
Our team ensured the clients requirements were delivered by creating an open plan kitchen and living space, retaining some of the exposed brickwork and a large double bedroom and en-suite. The original openings were used to create an attractive entrance and large windows admitting plenty of natural light. Timber panelling was used to fill the large cart opening and provide windows to the bedroom, which was then painted in a heritage colour in-keeping with the earlier barn development.
At the same time, designs were prepared and planning permission obtained for a detached garage and living annex to the Stubbin Farm Farmhouse. This wasn’t constructed at the time, but designs were later revisited and resubmitted, following new ownership of the property.
