The Brief

Initially appointed by Conroy and Brook, we were reappointed by Ortus Homes to design and develop forty six, 1 and 2 bedroom retirement apartments on the edge of Holmfirth centre, within the town centre conservation area.

Our Approach

In designing our proposals for development of the site, we were mindful of the history of the site and its former mill buildings we looked at how the development could be designed to incorporate references to these original features. We were also keen to retain the former mill pond and make this a feature of the landscape and design.

The initial design proposals were submitted to the Yorkshire Design Review Panel whose advice was incorporated in the final proposals. Community Consultation was conducted through a local exhibition where views of local people were invited to view the proposals, influencing the final version of the design, including a link in to the Holme Valley riverside walk – a long term objective of the local civic society.

Current designs and drawings have been approved and we will provide a full service throughout for this design and build project.
