CONVERSION, HUDDERSFIELD

NEW BUILD, SHEPLEY >> Replacing a derelict 1960's NEW BUILD, SHEPLEY >>

Replacing a derelict 1960's bungalow on a generously sized plot, the form of the new two-storey house was designed with 'clipped eaves' to the front elevation, to better reflect the surrounding context. The design involved the introduction of large, open living spaces and a flexible room at ground floor level which could be utilised as a bedroom if required, with ground floor shower room facilities.

A high level of care and attention was given to the window proportions and divisions as clean lines were of paramount importance on this project. These contemporary, light openings
reflect the chosen style, but consider everyday functionality. A high quality range of Velfac windows were proposed and fitted to achieve the final outcome.
PLANNING APPROVAL >> We have recently obtained pl PLANNING APPROVAL >>

We have recently obtained planning approval from Kirklees Council for the demolition of an existing barn and for the erection of two new stone-built dwellings in Shepley.

A feasibility study was carried to determine the most effective approach to maximising the potential of the site. We concluded that the replacement of the barn with a pair of semi-detached properties would be the most cost-effective, efficient use of the available land.

Taking account of the required 'space about buildings' rules, careful consideration had to be given to the design and location of habitable windows to avoid overlooking, maintain privacy and achieve a balanced site. The end result achieving two high quality, generously proportioned, three-bedroom dwellings with traditional features to reflect the local character.

If you're a developer looking for a project, this site will be coming to the market shortly. Please get in touch for more information.

Take a look at our interior facelift project of an original 1990's traditional bungalow. Working with our clients, we focused our attention on parts of the house that would have the most impactful results, whilst minding budget, timescales and phasing of works.

What was previously a large, dimly lit entrance hallway, has now been better utilised with the incorporation of a large glazed screen and door. This design tweak not only maximises borrowed light, but also reclaims valuable floor space for a more inviting living area.

The separate kitchen, dining and lounge have been re-configured to create a contemporary open plan living space, more suited to modern day living. Our bespoke kitchen design, specific to our client's requirements, incorporates a casual dining space with birch plywood features to contrast the elegant Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue.
PLANNING APPROVAL >> Another planning permission PLANNING APPROVAL >>

Another planning permission secured for the extension and internal reconfiguration of Victoria Court located within the Holmfirth Town Centre Conservation Area.

Our approach has been rooted in understanding the building, its setting and the wider town-centre context.
Located on the edge of the Holmfirth Town Centre Conservation Area, the proposals focus on making better use of an existing building rather than starting again. The design responds to the site’s modern origins while improving its appearance through a lighter, more coherent architectural treatment that sits comfortably within this varied part of the town centre.

Planning is about balance. In this case, the scheme carefully considers heritage, design, access and sustainability, while also supporting long-term investment in Holmfirth. By extending and improving Victoria Court, the proposals help retain and grow local employment, increase daytime footfall for nearby businesses, and make efficient use of a sustainable town-centre location.
