The Brief

With a change to their original plans to convert this residential property into office spaces, our clients decided to transform the old, characterful residential property into a contemporary home for resale.

Our Approach

Our team designed a scheme for a comprehensive renovation, including structural repairs, improvements and modernisation of this property to ensure it was suitable for modern day living. After obtaining a full plans building regulations approval we assisted with advice and guidance throughout the on-site implementation of the scheme.

We collaborated with a structural engineer to ensure the house’s safety, addressed condemned areas, and implemented thermal improvements throughout.

Internally, we reconfigured the layout on the ground floor to create a spacious open kitchen-diner with dual aspect, a new glazed entrance area was added, and more natural light was introduced by opening up the existing French doors in the snug and incorporating window seats. Upstairs, a replacement compliant staircase to the attic was designed and the new layout created a larger, luxurious family bathroom, as well as creating an en-suite bathroom to the master bedroom. In the basement, a lightwell was opened up to form a light, large, modern and functional utility space.

Collaborating with the appointed joinery contractor, a new fully fitted kitchen, bathroom and utility room was designed and installed, creating both practical and luxurious living areas.

Externally, we designed and created a new vehicular entrance and parking/driveway area under permitted development rights. The house was sandblasted to showcase its beautiful stonework, and new Acoya sash windows were installed throughout.

The Result

The transformation of an old characterful property in a conservation area into a structurally sound, contemporary, and timeless home designed for modern luxury living.
