The Brief

To transform a well-established accountants practice in Huddersfield. From outdated, traditional premises into more modern, contemporary, and functional offices that reflect the current business model and provides a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere for both staff and clients.

Our Approach

Our team of architects and interior designers worked collaboratively with the client and sub-contractors to create a functional, practical and inspiring workplace. By maximising the available space and carefully aligning with the client’s requirements, our team delivered an environment that is both welcoming and comfortable.

We guided the client through every stage of the process from plans and layouts to drawings, mood boards and colour schemes. By providing samples and ensuring clear communication, we gave our client the confidence that their vision was being delivered at every step.

The initial phase of refurbishment, involved renovating key areas, including the reception, boardroom, two meeting rooms and two partners’ offices, and the creation of a large admin office.

Space adjustments were made to expand the admin office by reallocating areas from the reception and a partner’s office to facilitate an open-plan workspace for the admin team.

The slightly reduced reception area was modernised with a bespoke glazed screen featuring frosted manifestations. This element allowed for a visual connection with the admin office, ensuring teamwork whilst maintaining client privacy. It also introduced more natural light, enhancing the overall ambiance. A custom-designed reception desk with integrated lighting and fluted detailing was installed too.

Custom desks were also designed for the admin office and boardroom to optimize space efficiently and stay within budget. In the boardroom, an outdated TV was replaced with a wall-mounted presentation screen to improve client presentations.

While modernising, the clients were keen to retain the building’s traditional features that aligned with the company’s ethos. Therefore, original wall panelling and doors were preserved but revamped and rejuvenated with frosted glass, modern paint colours and subtly textured wallpapers.

Our team also took into account, the client’s new branding and marketing proposal and selected finishes and colours that aligned with the proposed brand identity, enhancing the overall customer experience.

The Result

The transformation of a rather dated and traditional accountant’s premises, which successfully merges modern and contemporary design with the traditional charm of the building, creating a pleasant and welcoming environment suitable for both the team of accountants and their clients.
