The Brief

To fit out a girl’s bedroom to maximise the limited space and accommodate the lifestyle and needs of a young teenager.

Our Approach

Our client wanted to utilise the space in her bedroom more effectively, to accommodate a fitted bed, wardrobes, shelving and a desk/dressing area. Given the restricted size of the room, at only 2.6m by 2.1m, we created a design which would maximise the available space and provide our client with her own perfect place to relax.

Taking into consideration our client’s wish list, we created a layout and design which encompassed everything she was looking for. This included a double, floor to ceiling fitted wardrobe with drawers to the bottom and open shelving to the side (plenty of space for our client to display her personal belongings!), a fitted bed set at a slightly higher level to allow double drawers with generous storage below and a fitted bed-head with floating bookshelf above. A desk, with a drawer beneath and full wall mirror above, was added to use as both a desk and a dressing area. These were all finished off with a series of recessed, feature, LED lights, providing low level evening light for reading in bed.

Attention and detail were also given to the positioning of sockets and switches so that our client could maximise her space to its potential.

Working with the team of specialist joiners all the items were individually manufactured and fitted, to a high standard, and to our detailed specifications. Overall, the furniture was produced in a selected light oak finish, the wardrobes and drawers being oak framed, with white AC lacquer sprayed doors and fronts. This light toned coloured scheme helped to create a feeling of more space and a neutral look that would future proof the room.

Finishing touches included the introduction of a pelmet and black out roller blind, which again maximised the space and added some warmth to the room.

The Result

A fabulous small but perfectly fitted out space for a young teenager to enjoy!
